Field Service Technician Level III (Electrical Power Distribution)

Location: North Carolina, USA; field work at customer job sites, regional field offices, and vendor sites may require travel of up to 75%.

What you will do

• Perform advanced start-up, commissioning, installation, testing, troubleshooting, service, and repair of switchboards, control panels, power products, and related equipment.
• Install, modify, inspect, and support electrical and mechanical components, including circuit breakers, bus bars, control components, power cabling, and control wiring.
• Lead or support high-priority field service activities, critical commissioning work, and escalated customer issues.
• Analyze system failures, identify root causes, determine corrective actions, and coordinate resolution with project management, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customers.
• Document service activities, parts usage, root cause analyses, corrective actions, open items, and follow-up requirements.
• Provide technical guidance, shadowing, and on-the-job training to Level I and Level II technicians.

Requirements

• Associate degree, vocational training, military experience, or equivalent experience in power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, PDUs, commissioning, or related fields is preferred.
• At least 3 years of related electrical, mechanical, technical, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, or field service experience is preferred, including at least 2 years supporting switchgear start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, or related field service activities.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and field service concepts, with the ability to independently resolve complex field issues.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, technical drawings, work instructions, and service documentation.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment while following PPE and electrical safety requirements.
• Ability to work independently, communicate technical information clearly, document work accurately, and escalate critical issues appropriately.
