Maintenance Mechanic (Chemical Manufacturing)

Location: Suffolk, Virginia, United States of America; onsite. Rotating day-shift schedule: 3 days on, 3 days off, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Salary: $58,030–$85,107 per year, plus discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, scrubbers, agitators, fans, heat exchangers, relief devices, vacuum systems, vessels, and other plant equipment.
• Test, calibrate, configure, repair, and replace process mechanical equipment in simple and complex systems.
• Analyze equipment data, drawings, manuals, and failure information to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance and support the reliability, availability, and production yield of plant equipment.
• Maintain equipment records, databases, and drawings in accordance with regulatory and site requirements.
• Operate and maintain utility equipment, including chillers, cooling towers, generators, air compressors, and steam systems.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial plant, preferably in chemical operations.
• Working knowledge of millwright work, machining, pipefitting, drivetrain equipment, measuring instruments, mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and communicate across departments.
• Ability to lift 55 pounds, climb stairs, work in confined spaces and at heights, operate a forklift, and use required PPE.
• Must meet respiratory protection standards and fit-test requirements, complete HAZWOPER training, and serve on the site Emergency Response Team.
