TL;DR
Project Quality Engineer (Aerospace) (AS9100/RCCA/SPC): Ensuring the quality, traceability, and mission assurance of precision spacecraft mechanisms throughout design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, and delivery with an accent on aerospace compliance, nonconformance management, and product risk. Focus on leading root-cause investigations, analyzing process capability and quality data, supporting customer and government audits, and independently escalating risks that could affect mission success.

Location: Onsite in Chatsworth, California, United States

Salary: $95,000–$135,000 annually

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary Quality Engineering representative for assigned spacecraft programs and Integrated Product Teams.
  • Develop and execute program quality and mission assurance plans, including compliance verification, surveillance, and risk mitigation.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, testing, qualification, delivery, First Article Inspection, traceability, configuration control, and End Item Data Package reviews.
  • Lead or support root-cause and corrective-action investigations using methods such as 8D, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, and 5-Why.
  • Analyze quality and manufacturing data using SPC, process capability analysis, and statistical methods.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, DCMA, and government representatives during inspections, audits, source inspections, and compliance activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related STEM discipline and at least 3 years of quality engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, spacecraft, or other high-reliability manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of AS9100D, AS9102, AS9145, ISO9001, engineering drawings, GD&T, manufacturing plans, and acceptance test documentation.
  • Experience with MRB activities, nonconformance investigations, configuration management, product traceability, reliability analysis, and failure investigations.
  • Experience working with customers, suppliers, DCMA, and government representatives.
  • Must be able to obtain U.S. security clearance and access U.S. export-controlled information.

Nice to have

  • 8–12 years of relevant experience and experience with spaceflight hardware or precision electromechanical assemblies.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or another relevant quality certification.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods, regression analysis, Minitab, JMP, or equivalent tools.
  • Familiarity with NASA workmanship standards, IPC J-STD-001, and Nadcap-controlled special processes.
