Embedded Software Engineer (C/RTOS)

Location: Onsite in Santa Barbara, California, United States. The role follows a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off and requires approximately 10–15% travel.

Salary: $85,000–$135,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, code, debug, and integrate embedded software for turreted weapon systems.
• Develop and integrate new capabilities in systems integration labs and field environments.
• Debug issues in existing systems and deliver executable software meeting quality and performance requirements.
• Produce software documentation required by customer contracts.
• Report project status to management during execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer, software, or another engineering discipline with relevant experience.
• At least 3 years of experience designing, developing, and testing embedded real-time control software.
• Experience with C, operating systems, RTOS, communication protocol drivers, and stacks such as 1553, UART, SPI, and I2C.
• Ability to read electronic datasheets, electrical schematics, and communication protocol documentation.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance and access U.S. export-controlled information.
• Approximately 10–15% travel availability.

Nice to have

• Java, bare-metal development, or embedded Linux experience.
• Experience with Unix internals, low-level drivers, communication interfaces, or GUI software.
