Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++/Rust)

Location: Carlsbad, California; Tempe, Arizona; Marlborough, Massachusetts; Linthicum Heights, Maryland; or Tampa, Florida

Salary: $117,000–$185,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $145,000–$218,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for encrypted communications systems, including Layer 2 and Layer 3 inline network encryptors.
• Build software for embedded cryptographic devices and emerging cryptographic solutions.
• Design and implement software in C/C++ and Rust for Linux-based embedded environments.
• Develop or modify Linux kernel drivers and bare-metal embedded device drivers.
• Work with TCP/IP, IPSec, MACsec, TLS, and other networking protocols.
• Collaborate with system, test, and hardware engineers to transition new capabilities into service.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of experience designing and implementing embedded software in C/C++.
• At least 1 year of Linux experience, ideally in an embedded environment.
• Experience with object-oriented software development, Agile Scrum, CI/CD, and progress reporting.
• Understanding of TCP/IP and common network configuration, plus familiarity with Linux kernel driver development or modification.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or a related field.
• US citizenship and an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance required.

Nice to have

• Rust experience.
• Experience with NIOS, ARM, RISC-V, or other embedded processors.
• RESTConf interface design, emulation environments, Python, and standalone embedded applications.
• Experience with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
