Plant Technician (Power Generation) - Memphis

Location: Southaven, Mississippi, or Memphis, Tennessee, United States. The position is based at a power generation facility and requires up to 25% travel to other sites, rotating shifts, overtime, and weekend work as needed.

What you will do

• Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, and balance-of-plant systems.
• Monitor pumps, piping, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC, generators, motors, water systems, UPS, switchgear, and related equipment.
• Identify issues during daily inspections and repair or replace faulty mechanical, electrical, and controls components.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, fire protection, emergency shutdown, and other industrial control systems.
• Execute MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs while supporting lockout/tagout, hot work, confined-space, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Support shutdowns, outages, utility events, commissioning, equipment start-up, functional testing, and site turnover.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 3 years of hands-on technician or operator experience with industrial mechanical, electrical, and/or control systems.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, drawings, data sheets, manuals, and equipment documentation.
• Ability to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and operate in heat, cold, and rain while wearing PPE.
• Ability to work onsite at the Southaven/Memphis power generation facility, travel up to 25%, and work rotating shifts, overtime, and weekends.
• Ability to remain focused in hazardous environments and follow site safety procedures.

Nice to have

• Associate’s degree in power plant technology, controls, mechatronics, automation, or a related technical field.
• Experience in a power plant, process plant, or similar industrial facility.
• Experience with MOPs, SOPs, EOPs, PLC/HMI/SCADA platforms, generators, UPS, switchgear, HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, or water systems.
• Experience using calibrated measuring instruments and strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
