What you will do
- Manage electrical utility distribution systems, including substations, switchgear, feeders, and load management infrastructure.
- Oversee emergency power systems, including generators, paralleling switchgear, automatic transfer switches, and UPS systems.
- Lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs to ensure reliable facility operations.
- Direct troubleshooting, root cause analysis, outage response, commissioning, and reliability-centered maintenance activities.
- Manage electrical capital projects, system upgrades, documentation, single-line diagrams, and long-term infrastructure planning.
- Supervise internal staff and external contractors while participating in on-call and emergency response activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field is preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in electrical systems management and 2+ years managing direct reports.
- Experience with campus- or facility-wide electrical distribution, substations, switchgear, feeders, and critical-load management.
- Proficiency with diesel or natural gas generators, paralleling switchgear, ATS, and UPS systems.
- Experience in high-availability environments such as healthcare facilities, research laboratories, higher education campuses, or data centers.
- Knowledge of BAS, SCADA, electrical monitoring systems, applicable safety regulations, and healthcare compliance standards.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.
