Senior Software Engineer (Ruby/Rails)

Location: Berlin, Germany; hybrid working policy

Salary: €77,000–€92,000 gross per year, based on a 40-hour work week

What you will do

• Own a clearly defined backend scope from idea through production and lead implementation within the team.
• Design, build, and run POCs to validate technical decisions before full-scale development.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain core backend applications and services.
• Shape high-level architecture for scalability, performance, availability, and security.
• Work closely with product to shape the roadmap and support company growth.
• Help evolve the AI-based platform while developing expertise in In-Court and After-Court debt collection processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience with medium-to-large projects.
• Strong backend development experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails.
• Ability to work independently, define scope, and deliver projects with minimal supervision.
• Experience with TDD, CI/CD, clean maintainable backend code, and infrastructure.
• Comfort working in Agile environments such as Scrum or Kanban.
• Solid English communication skills and willingness to work in a hybrid Berlin-based role.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Go or Python.
• Financial or accounting industry experience.
• Frontend experience with Vue.js and GraphQL.
• Infrastructure experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and Linux.
• Knowledge of Node.js, Rust, or Java.
