EPL & D&O Liability Claim Counsel

Location: Glendale, California, United States

Salary: $111,600–$184,200 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Investigate, analyze, evaluate, and resolve business insurance claims of varying severity.
• Prepare management reports covering loss development, financial exposure, reserves, coverage issues, and claim strategies.
• Retain and manage outside counsel through litigation plans, budgets, mediations, settlement conferences, trials, and depositions.
• Provide legal advice to underwriting and claims colleagues, including coverage opinions supported by case law.
• Negotiate settlements, review releases and settlement agreements, and coordinate recovery opportunities.
• Research legal and marketplace developments and support underwriting initiatives, broker visits, risk mitigation seminars, and customer-focused publications.

Requirements

• Five or more years of relevant legal or claim handling experience; at least two years of relevant legal experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate degree.
• Must be licensed, registered, or authorized and in good standing to practice law in the jurisdiction where the role is performed.
• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, analyze data, maintain attention to detail, and build collaborative relationships.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required adjusters’ licenses.
