Claims Case Manager (Legal)

Location: Newark, Delaware; hybrid with in-office work required at least three days per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The role includes a 24/7 on-call rotation for serious incident investigations within the Newark, DE service territory, including nights, weekends, holidays, storms, and other emergencies.

Salary: $65,600–$90,200 annually, plus a 10% bonus for eligible positions.

What you will do

• Investigate and manage third-party bodily injury, property damage, fatality, auto, environmental, fire, gas, and other claims.
• Respond to incident scenes, coordinate field investigations, preserve evidence, interview relevant parties, and arrange expert support and site inspections.
• Evaluate liability, damages, claim values, reserves, financial exposure, and potential recovery for motor vehicle subrogation claims.
• Prepare investigation reports, claim summaries, case analyses, correspondence, and other documentation.
• Develop settlement strategies, negotiate resolutions, communicate claim decisions and denials, and support loss prevention.
• Partner with Legal and Litigation on discovery, defense, negotiation, and resolution of claims.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field and 2–4 years of relevant claims, insurance, investigation, or utility experience, or 3–6 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Additional relevant claims, insurance, and/or utility experience of 5–7 years is listed for the role.
• Active claims adjuster license where applicable to the position location.
• Ability to conduct comprehensive field and internal investigations, manage a heavy caseload, and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to work in the Newark, Delaware hybrid arrangement and participate in 24/7 emergency on-call coverage.
