Maintenance Technician (Oil & Gas)

Location: Onsite in Tucson, Arizona; the working conditions section also lists Imperial, California. Occasional overnight travel, 24-hour emergency call-outs, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, align, and calibrate pumps, motors, valves, meters, tank gauging equipment, gauges, and SCADA equipment.
• Maintain electrical and control equipment, including switchgear, motor control centers, PLC-based controllers, transmitters, alarm systems, safety devices, and automated fire control systems.
• Maintain DOT-required equipment records, maintenance and repair records, CMV logs, lubrication schedules, and computer-based maintenance management system data.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on terminal and mainline equipment and support regional and corporate engineering projects, testing, startup, and commissioning.
• Work with vendors, contractors, inspectors, and station personnel, and assist with training other technicians.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and perform outdoor field work involving climbing tanks, working around heavy equipment, confined spaces, rough terrain, and refined petroleum products.

Requirements

• High school diploma, technical school degree, or equivalent preferred.
• Two to four years of experience or equivalent skilled technician and industry-related experience; pipeline, station, terminal, or refined petroleum equipment experience is relevant.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, mechanical drawings, and aerial strip maps.
• Valid state driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to pass the Commercial Motor Vehicle physical are mandatory.
• Ability to pass Operator Qualification requirements and comply with applicable license, certification, training, and DOT requirements.
• Mechanical aptitude, communication skills, computer proficiency with Microsoft applications, self-motivation, and ability to work with minimal supervision are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with construction contractors, pipeline inspection, pipeline hydraulics, petroleum storage and dispensing, storage tank operations, and pipeline operations.
• Knowledge of cathodic protection, piping, valves, pressures, tank alarms, inspections, and sampling.
