Director, Claims Software Engineering (Hybrid)

What you will do

• Lead a portfolio of claims business applications and software engineering initiatives, balancing delivery, operational stability, modernization, and technical debt reduction.
• Provide technical direction across architecture, application design, integrations, data, security, performance, scalability, resiliency, and production support.
• Lead Azure cloud solutions, including architecture, migration, governance, security, cost management, and operational support.
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex engineering challenges, production incidents, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
• Partner with business, IT, architecture, infrastructure, security, data, and digital teams to align solutions with strategic roadmaps.
• Recruit, coach, and develop managers, team leads, engineers, and consulting partners while managing delivery scope, budget, quality, risks, and engineering metrics.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems, engineering, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Extensive software engineering experience with modern application development technologies, web solutions, enterprise architecture, service and API design, integrations, security, and data practices.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams, developing managers and technical leaders, and influencing technical direction in a complex enterprise environment.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud-native design, migration, identity and access management, networking, monitoring, security, cost optimization, and governance.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, architecture reviews, automated testing, observability, DevOps, production readiness, and large-scale application modernization.
• Demonstrated experience implementing and operationalizing AI and GenAI capabilities in enterprise applications, with reliable and measurable production outcomes.

• Experience with business process management platforms, particularly Pega.
• Experience in property and casualty insurance.
