Electrical Engineer I (HVAC)

Location: Clarksville, Tennessee, United States. Hybrid schedule with onsite work Monday through Thursday and a flexible work location on Fridays. Domestic and international travel may be required, estimated at 10%.

Salary: $52,300–$93,485 per year.

What you will do

• Design electrical systems for commercial chillers, rooftops, and air handlers.
• Develop control panel layouts, wire harness routing, and transformer load calculations.
• Select and qualify electrical and electromechanical components, including circuit breakers, contactors, overloads, variable frequency drives, and starters.
• Integrate sensors, wired and wireless interconnection devices, and HVAC control electronics into unit designs.
• Create laboratory test plans, analyze test data, and prepare prototypes, reports, and production documentation.
• Support designers, laboratory technicians, and cross-functional engineering teams while delivering electrical and productivity improvement projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Physics with circuits coursework.
• Electrical engineering internship or cooperative education experience.
• Interest in HVAC applications and refrigeration equipment operating conditions.
• Knowledge of product safety and design standards, including UL/CSA 1995, UL508, UL508A, the National Electric Code, ANSI Z21.47, and ASHRAE 90.1.
• Strong communication, information organization, engineering decision-making, and cross-functional teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Basic experience with 3D CAD applications such as ProE.
