Junior Mechanical Engineer (HVAC)

Location: Hybrid in Merritt Island, FL or Bethesda, MD, USA; travel up to 25%.

Salary: $72,000–$80,000 per year in Merritt Island or $80,000–$95,000 per year in Bethesda, plus performance-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design mechanical and plumbing components and systems, including HVAC, fire protection, and life safety systems.
• Perform thermal and fluid dynamics calculations, engineering analysis, equipment selection, and energy efficiency assessments.
• Support projects from concept design through implementation and testing, including construction administration and field support.
• Coordinate mechanical systems with other disciplines and maintain design specifications, test plans, progress reports, and other project documentation.
• Resolve technical issues with internal and external customers while communicating with clients, contractors, suppliers, and project teams.
• Contribute to quality control, facility condition assessments, capital asset management planning, process improvements, and training initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Up to five years of professional Mechanical Engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, NEC, UFC, and UFC codes; knowledge of FBC, IBC, IMC, IPC, AFMAN, and SSMAN is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience with CAD, Revit, Bluebeam Revu, or other mechanical system modeling and drafting software.
• Valid and unrestricted Florida driver’s license.
• Must be a US citizen for security clearance requirements and have an active/interim Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one.
