DoW SkillBridge Fellowship - Controls Specialist II (Building Automation Systems)

Location: Pensacola, Florida, United States; on-site

Salary: $31.06–$38.85 per hour if hired as a full-time Navy Federal employee. SkillBridge participants are not compensated by Navy Federal and continue receiving military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

What you will do

• Compile and analyze operational and energy-use data to improve Building Automation Systems (BAS) performance, efficiency, and cost savings.
• Program and configure control systems, adjust environmental controls, and troubleshoot system inefficiencies and maintenance issues.
• Support operation, maintenance, repair, installation, and scheduling for mechanical and electrical control and monitoring systems.
• Lead or assist control-system projects as project manager and site supervisor, including scope analysis, safety reviews, contractor coordination, procurement, and service orders.
• Maintain control equipment, spare-parts inventories, workstations, system databases, and disaster-recovery archives.
• Research and document electrical-system regulations, update procedures, and provide technical guidance to electrical and mechanical staff.

Requirements

• Eligibility is limited to transitioning service members currently approved for the DoD SkillBridge program.
• Significant commercial HVAC and/or electrical systems operation and maintenance experience, including working knowledge of BAS; five years of HVAC, control-systems, and/or electrical maintenance experience is desired.
• Knowledge of control theory, psychrometrics, end devices, sensors, central chiller plants, automated window shading systems, electronics, BACnet, and TCP/IP networking.
• Ability to read, modify, and program graphical control sequences; interpret schematics, blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, schedules, and technical manuals.
• Advanced knowledge of electrical-trade tools, mathematics, codes, materials, safety regulations, NFPA requirements, and the National Electrical Code.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, make sound decisions, manage resources, communicate effectively, and analyze and organize technical work.

Nice to have

• At least two years of programming and maintenance experience with Trane Tracer and/or Automated Logic systems.
• Experience installing, starting up, maintaining, and programming BAS systems.
• Vocational training or an Associate in Applied Science degree in a related field.
