R&D Engineering Intern (Mechanical Engineering)

Location: McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. The role combines office-based work with physical activity on field or production floors.

Pay range: $18.00–$37.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Design, model, and test mechanical systems and vehicle components.
• Research and implement continuous improvements supporting manufacturing, supply chain, operations, and customer feedback.
• Prepare, revise, and review component layouts using CAD tools such as Creo Parametric.
• Create engineering change notices and update bills of materials in PLM and PDM systems.
• Support prototype, pilot, and production builds on the assembly floor and provide technical assistance.
• Perform engineering calculations and vehicle or component testing while working with suppliers, customers, and internal departments.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to shift between detailed computer-based work and physical production-floor tasks.
• Ability to walk across varied terrain or shop floors, stand, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and work around varying temperatures or noise levels.

Nice to have

• Previous internship or work-related experience.
• Experience or strong interest in mechanical design.
• Experience with Creo Parametric, Pro-E, CATIA, or a similar CAD system.
• Knowledge of steel and sheet metal fabrication, construction equipment, or SAE extracurricular activities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
