Sr. Performance Simulation Application Engineering Specialist

Location: Clayton, North Carolina; onsite five days per week, Monday through Friday. Travel of 10–25% is expected, including domestic and international travel. Domestic relocation is available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $147,760–$221,640 per year.

What you will do

• Lead engine strategy development and multi-generation technology planning for building construction product lines.
• Define engine performance requirements, including lug curves, transient response, fuel consumption, altitude, and cold-ambient operation.
• Guide the development and selection of technologies supporting emissions regulations, alternative fuels, and hybrid powertrains.
• Set up and manage remote CAN-based data acquisition systems, analyze engine and emissions performance, and identify corrective actions.
• Coordinate product groups, engineering, commercial teams, testing and validation, and enterprise partners.
• Coach and mentor global Engine Systems team members in performance, integration, and emissions engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or another accredited engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of emissions regulations, engine design and development, and engine installation across multiple applications.
• Experience solving significant technical challenges through analytical thinking, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
• Experience with project management, process improvement, technical validation, and cross-functional communication.
• Experience with engine system design, development, manufacture, validation, emissions performance, and architecture is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Clayton, North Carolina five days per week and travel 10–25%.

Nice to have

• Off-highway machine and hands-on testing experience, including cold-start, extended-ambient, or altitude testing.
• Experience coaching and mentoring technical teams.
• Six Sigma Black Belt certification with DMAIC experience.
• Experience with DFMEA, DOE, Python, MATLAB, Dynasty, Power BI, Tableau, CANape, CANalyzer, Cadet, DATK, or SQL.
