Fluids Engineer (Power Generation)

Location: Southaven, Mississippi or Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Travel to other locations may be required, and schedules vary according to plant operational needs.

What you will do

• Design, build, activate, and troubleshoot fluid systems for power generation plants, including fuel gas, ammonia, water, compressed and instrument air, and HVAC.
• Apply thermodynamics, fluid flow, and control theory to process and utility system design and analysis.
• Model piping assemblies in CAD, perform piping stress analysis, and develop detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Select and specify valves, pumps, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, filters, and other system components.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, controls, operations, and other engineering disciplines to deliver complete designs.
• Manage fabrication, installation, commissioning, operational planning, performance analysis, and troubleshooting alongside technician teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• At least 1 year of experience with fluid systems or process engineering.
• Experience with industrial fluid systems, pressurized piping, instrumentation, and applicable ASME/ANSI standards.
• Experience with CAD software such as Siemens NX or SOLIDWORKS and pipe stress analysis software such as CAESAR II.
• Ability to use Python or another programming language for data review and analysis.
• Ability to work hands-on at power plants, including lifting up to 25 lbs and standing, climbing, bending, carrying, and other physical activities.

Nice to have

• Master's degree in mechanical, chemical, or related engineering.
• Five or more years of hands-on industrial fluid systems experience.
• Experience with fuel gas, ammonia, water treatment, cooling water, compressed air, HVAC, or chilled-water systems.
• Experience operating and troubleshooting control systems and leading technicians during fabrication and commissioning.
• Familiarity with root-cause analysis and risk mitigation.
