Patient Access Associate Specialist (Healthcare)

Location: Onsite at Mercy - Urbana Hospital in Urbana, Ohio; candidates must reside and be authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $17.00–$18.15 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

• Perform patient admitting, pre-registration, and account setup for hospital services.
• Assign accurate medical record numbers, process physician orders, and complete medical necessity and compliance checks.
• Collect demographic, insurance, and financial information, including point-of-service and past-due payments.
• Verify insurance eligibility, select plan codes, enter benefit data, and support clean claims.
• Explain consent, Medicare, Tricare, observation, and other patient forms; obtain signatures and distribute required documents.
• Conduct account audits, maintain accurate documentation, operate the telephone switchboard, and provide compassionate customer service.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience.
• Must be able to work onsite at Mercy - Urbana Hospital in Urbana, Ohio.
• Must reside in and be authorized to work within the United States.
• Must demonstrate curiosity and openness to innovation, including AI-enabled process improvements.
• CRCR certification required within 9 months of hire; certification is company-paid.
