Health Information Specialist I - 8211 (Healthcare)

Location: Alabama; onsite work involving facility-based medical records duties and the ability to commute between locations as needed

Salary: $15-$18.32 per hour

What you will do

• Receive and process patient health information and release-of-information requests.
• Retrieve, assemble, scan, digitize, and transmit medical records accurately.
• Safeguard patient privacy and apply HIPAA and facility policies to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
• Manage inbound and outbound calls, patient walk-ins, faxes, mail, data entry, and pickup scheduling.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards while responding to changing priorities and fluctuating work volumes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment.
• Ability to commute between locations, work with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks, and work overtime during peak seasons when required.
