Area Health Information Specialist (Healthcare Data)

Location: Butler, Pennsylvania, United States; onsite work with the ability to commute between locations as needed

What you will do

• Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility procedures.
• Safeguard patient privacy and ensure all releases comply with HIPAA, authorizations, and applicable policies.
• Prepare, assemble, review, and manage paper and electronic patient charts.
• Create digital images of documents and retrieve and transmit medical records to authorized recipients.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls, faxes, mail, data entry, pickups, and occasional patient walk-ins.
• Meet site productivity expectations and communicate changing workloads or site issues to management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Professional verbal and written communication skills in English are required.
• Basic computer proficiency and strong data entry skills.
• Ability to use phones, fax machines, printers, and standard office equipment.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, organize multiple tasks, and respond to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work onsite, commute between locations, and work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM CST; overtime may be required during peak seasons.

Nice to have

• Experience in a healthcare environment.
• Previous production- or metric-based work experience.
• In-person customer service experience and experience building relationships with onsite clients.
• Experience suggesting process improvements and providing feedback to internal stakeholders.
