Heavy Equipment Mechanic

What you will do

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment, compact equipment, light service equipment, and light trucks.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles, including compactors, excavators, and wheel loaders.
• Service engines, transmissions, chassis, drivelines, hydraulic, brake, electrical, suspension, steering, wheel-end, tire, and undercarriage systems.
• Perform gas and diesel engine overhauls and work with Tier 4 emission systems.
• Interpret equipment condition reports, repair orders, oil sampling results, onboard computer data, and fleet management software information.
• Document repairs, parts usage, labor time, fuel, oil, and other consumables while following safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience as a heavy equipment technician, including progressively challenging maintenance repairs.
• Mechanical trade school certificate or degree.
• Advanced knowledge of air brakes, tires, hydraulics, electrical systems, drivetrains, suspension, steering, and wheel-end components.
• Certificate in electrical diagnostics and applicable ASE certifications.
• At least 1 year of experience applying OSHA Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Fire Protection regulations.
• Welding or fabrication skills and experience.
