Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Construction)

Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Austin, TX

What you will do

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy civil equipment including dozers and excavators in the shop and on active job sites.
• Perform routine maintenance such as greasing, fluid checks, and scheduled service.
• Manage field fueling operations using a diesel fuel trailer.
• Troubleshoot sensors, wiring, and hardware kits integrated into semi-autonomous equipment.
• Track equipment condition, maintenance history, and parts inventory.
• Coordinate with field teams to prioritize repairs and minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements

• Proven hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing commercial earthworks equipment.
• Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and perform field repairs with minimal supervision.
• Must be available for on-call or short-notice response.
• Must be willing to relocate to Austin, TX if not within commuting distance.
• Must be willing to work extended hours or weekends as needed.

Nice to have

• Experience troubleshooting electronic control systems or sensors on modern equipment.
• ASE or relevant heavy equipment/diesel mechanic certifications.
• Experience running mobile or field-service maintenance operations.
• Experience in a fast-growing startup environment.
