TL;DR

Focus on interpreting legislative changes, managing handbook updates and agency responses, and building compliance tracking tools for wage, leave, I-9, E-Verify, and reporting requirements.

Location: 4:1 in-office schedule; Dallas or Dallas-North expected, with other U.S. office locations considered based on business and experience fit.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws across all firm jurisdictions.
  • Assess legislative changes and update policies, employee and attorney handbooks, procedures, and state-specific addenda.
  • Oversee wage and hour, leave, pay transparency, workplace posting, I-9, and E-Verify compliance.
  • Conduct internal audits, maintain compliance records in Workday or another HRIS, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support government audits, unemployment claims, EEOC charges, agency inquiries, investigations, and annual reporting.
  • Develop manager and staff training, compliance dashboards, and tracking tools in collaboration with payroll, benefits, HRIS, HR Generalists, and leadership.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong emphasis on compliance.
  • Required experience in a multi-state employer environment and in a law firm or professional services organization.
  • Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, ADEA, USERRA, and related state employment laws.
  • Experience with handbook updates, jurisdictional addenda, audits, agency responses, and compliance investigations.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, documentation, policy-drafting, organizational, and project-management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field required; a relevant Juris Doctor degree may also be considered.

Nice to have

  • Workday or comparable HRIS experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
