Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: THG Labs, Commerce Park, Cornbrash, Frome, United Kingdom. Onsite role with rotating shifts from 6:00–14:15 and 14:00–22:15, 8.15 hours per day and 41.25 hours per week.

What you will do

• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical production systems.
• Diagnose faults and repair conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, motors, bearings, pneumatic systems, hydraulic equipment, and automated machinery.
• Strip down, replace, align, adjust, and rebuild equipment components.
• Perform basic electrical fault-finding and safely isolate equipment.
• Support continuous improvement and engineering projects focused on equipment reliability, performance, and efficiency.
• Maintain CMMS records, follow health and safety, environmental, and quality standards, and provide technical support to production and operations.

Requirements

• Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3, ONC, or HNC in Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineering.
• Experience in a similar maintenance engineering role within manufacturing, FMCG, or an industrial environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills and practical experience with bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
• Sound electrical knowledge covering motors, sensors, control systems, and safe electrical isolation.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, technical diagrams, and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure.

Nice to have

• Electrical qualification or additional experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding.
• Experience with automated systems, robotics, or packaging machinery.
• Welding, fabrication, machining, or mechanical fitting experience.
• Knowledge of lean maintenance, TPM, Kaizen, or 5S.
