Maintenance Team Leader (Industrial Maintenance)

Location: Desford, Leicestershire, United Kingdom; onsite weekend maintenance role

Salary: £40,500 starting salary, rising to £44,900 once fully competent

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate weekend maintenance activities across the paint facility.
• Manage planned preventative maintenance schedules and CMMS work orders to improve asset reliability and availability.
• Supervise, support, and provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians.
• Support fault diagnosis and escalation for mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues.
• Monitor maintenance performance, lead toolbox talks and shift handovers, and drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, reliability, and operations teams to reduce downtime and maintain safety, quality, and environmental standards.

Requirements

• Recognised engineering qualification such as NVQ Level 3, HNC, apprenticeship, or equivalent in mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled engineering.
• Significant maintenance experience in a manufacturing, automotive, industrial, or process environment.
• Experience leading teams, supervising maintenance activities, or working as a senior technician.
• Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance, reliability principles, fault-finding, and problem-solving.
• Experience with maintenance management systems and a demonstrated commitment to health and safety.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop others.

Nice to have

• Experience in paint shop, finishing, automated manufacturing, or process environments.
• Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, automation systems, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, or continuous improvement.
• IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety qualification.
• Experience managing contractors and external service providers.
