Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, enterprise-ready backend APIs.
• Improve tenancy and isolation boundaries across violations, citations, and payments systems.
• Partner with product management and cross-functional teams to turn business needs into pragmatic technical solutions.
• Make and communicate engineering trade-offs involving architecture, build-versus-buy decisions, flexibility, and simplicity.
• Operate production systems, respond to incidents, and drive root-cause resolution and reliability improvements.
• Mentor engineers and raise the quality of technical design and execution across the team.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale production systems.
• 5+ years of programming experience with Go, Ruby, Java, Python, Kotlin, or similar languages.
• 5+ years of experience designing and building scalable backend APIs or platform services.
• 3+ years of operational experience owning production systems, diagnosing issues under pressure, and improving reliability.
• Strong understanding of API security, data formats and interchange, version control, and CI/CD.
• Ability to collaborate directly with product management, work as a backend generalist, and mentor early-career engineers.
