Senior Backend Engineer (AI)

Location: US, Remote

Salary: $199,000–$235,000 annually, plus equity for full-time roles.

hirify.global is a remote cybersecurity product company building NodeZero, a platform for autonomous penetration testing and security assessment operations.

What you will do

• Build and own the durable, resumable execution runtime for defensive agents, including checkpointing, idempotency, cancellation, and timeouts.
• Design the versioned, schema-validated tool layer and connector framework for EDR, firewall, identity, SIEM, and cloud IAM platforms.
• Implement safe-change workflows with simulation, blast-radius classification, approval gates, staged rollout, rollback, and immutable tenant audit trails.
• Extend tenant isolation across execution boundaries, egress, quotas, caches, indexes, and logs.
• Develop ETL and GraphQL features for agent context, run history, remediation state, and research datasets.
• Instrument agent runs with distributed tracing, cost and token accounting, and debugging tools, while partnering with AI researchers, attack engineers, and product.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with modern object-oriented or functional languages such as Python, Go, Scala, C++, or TypeScript.
• Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP, and container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expert SQL proficiency and production experience designing and operating distributed systems with asynchronous workflows, queues, retries, idempotency, and partial failure.
• Track record of shipping and operating production services, including on-call ownership.
• Experience with multi-tenant isolation, workflow engines, third-party security APIs, relational and graph databases, GraphQL, observability, and distributed tracing is valuable.

Nice to have

• Experience building agentic or LLM-backed systems in production.
• Experience with Temporal or another durable execution/workflow engine.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Neo4j, GraphQL, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Familiarity with prompt injection and untrusted-input handling.
