Software Systems Engineer (VB.NET)

Location: Bridgend, South Wales, UK; onsite at the office. Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Salary: £50,000–£70,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

What you will do

• Analyse software requirements and customer needs with product development and production teams.
• Design and develop software, system interfaces, and control systems for existing and future engineering projects.
• Prepare system specifications, module descriptions, test plans, design reviews, and technical documentation.
• Test, validate, install, troubleshoot, and support software throughout the full product lifecycle.
• Investigate technical issues and implement bug fixes, system modifications, and enhancements.
• Work with end users, customers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal personnel, including providing technical training.

Requirements

• At least five years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong commercial experience with VB.NET, preferably in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
• Experience developing software that interacts with hardware and engineering systems.
• Experience with software requirements, system specifications, technical documentation, testing, debugging, and system validation.
• Understanding of software and hardware interfaces within complex engineering systems, plus strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• HND or degree-level qualification in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

Nice to have

• Experience with PLCs.
• Experience with laser control systems.
• Knowledge or interest in machine control, motion control, and automation systems.
