Senior Embedded C++ Engineer (Defence)

Location: London, United Kingdom; on-site 4 days per week

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded C++ software for real-time, mission-critical systems.
• Develop and integrate low-level software components and system interfaces.
• Support unit, integration, and system-level testing for deterministic and reliable behaviour.
• Collaborate with systems, electronics, and test engineers to integrate software into complex platforms.
• Produce clear and traceable technical documentation for regulated engineering environments.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience developing embedded C++ software.
• Professional experience in defence, safety-critical, or other regulated environments.
• Understanding of real-time software constraints, deterministic behaviour, verification, validation, and requirements traceability.
• Experience with configuration management and development lifecycle tooling, plus strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent technical military experience.
• Must be eligible and willing to obtain UK SC security clearance and complete baseline personnel security screening.

Nice to have

• Experience with DO-178 or equivalent safety-critical standards.
• Experience with Ada in high-integrity or regulated systems.
• Knowledge of MISRA C/C++ or secure coding practices.
• Familiarity with automated testing, static analysis, or CI/CD pipelines.
