Director, Product Development - Business Insurance

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $120,400–$198,700, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead product strategies, go-to-market plans, agile initiatives, and actions supporting growth, profit, and retention objectives.
• Serve as the enterprise subject matter authority for Excess and Surplus Lines product operations across six Business Insurance units.
• Manage product guides, forms, compliance documentation, state-specific regulatory processes, policy issuance, and reporting guidance.
• Coordinate with Legal Services, Finance, Corporate Compliance, field operations, vendors, and other stakeholders.
• Design and implement system and process solutions, product launches, training, onboarding, and communication materials.
• Monitor strategic performance, present recommendations to leadership, and coach or oversee team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least four years of relevant experience with insurance products, underwriting, coverage, rules, compliance, regulatory environments, or insurance financials.
• Preferred: six years of product development experience, preferably in financial services, and at least one year of people management experience.
• Expert understanding of insurance products, underwriting, coverage, forms, risk management, pricing and filing processes, and insurance financials.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, storytelling, innovation, leadership, and change-management skills.
• Ability to evaluate data and systems, identify opportunities, influence management, and align solutions with enterprise strategy.
