Engineering Manager - People & Procurement

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid model with onsite work required 50% of the time

What you will do

• Own the engineering, operation and continuous evolution of People and Procurement technology capabilities, including enterprise SaaS platforms, integrations and supporting services.
• Lead, coach and develop engineers while establishing clear technical ownership and reducing key-person dependencies.
• Translate business priorities and technology strategy into engineering plans, balancing delivery, platform health, technical debt and operational investment.
• Maintain secure, resilient, scalable and maintainable platforms, including observability, incident and problem management, change management, disaster recovery and business continuity.
• Manage platform lifecycle, upgrades, vendor relationships, implementation partners and significant technical decisions.
• Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, Integration & Engineering Services and stakeholders across People and Procurement.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading engineering teams responsible for complex, business-critical technology.
• Strong experience with enterprise SaaS platforms and their ecosystems, including integrations, APIs, data flows and system dependencies.
• Experience combining people leadership and technical leadership, developing engineering capability and strengthening technical ownership.
• Experience owning technology across change, delivery, production operation and continuous improvement.
• Strong understanding of reliability, security, privacy, observability, operational risk and technology lifecycle management.
• Experience translating business priorities into engineering plans and communicating technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with People, HCM, Procurement or comparable enterprise platforms.
• Experience with Workday or a similar HCM platform.
• Experience with significant enterprise platform transformation, implementation or modernisation.
