Maintenance Technician III (Electrician)

Location: North Chicago, Illinois, United States; rotating 12-hour shifts, 4 days on and 4 days off, with day-shift hours from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

What you will do

• Maintain department assets to support reliable equipment operation and quality standards.
• Test conductor insulation, transformer coils, circuit breakers, and switchgear using electrical testing equipment.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain UPS systems used for distributed control systems and emergency lighting.
• Troubleshoot motor control centers and perform preventive maintenance.
• Maintain generators and inverters, and work with soft starts and variable frequency drives.
• Train lower-level technicians, create or edit maintenance job plans, and support reliability, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• High school diploma with 10+ years of experience, a relevant certificate with 5+ years of experience, or an associate technical degree with 3+ years of experience.
• Proficiency in two or more skilled maintenance functions and advanced diagnostic, machine, or predictive tools.
• Electrical safety training under NFPA 70E, IR scanning, VFD knowledge, and motor control center troubleshooting experience.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Windows.
• Ability to follow electrical standards, the NEC, GMP requirements, and site safety procedures.
