Maintenance Tech I (Automation/Robotics)

Location: Northfield, Illinois; onsite role with travel of up to 10% within and outside the state

Salary: $28.75–$41.75 per hour

What you will do

• Set up, adjust, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyors, automation, robotics, and ancillary equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, document issues in maintenance logs and CMMS, and maintain facility operating records.
• Troubleshoot PLC input/output and logic systems and act as an escalation point for lower-level technicians.
• Analyze production delays, equipment downtime, defects, and spoilage causes; perform root cause analysis and verify corrective actions.
• Support building and facility maintenance, including HVAC, generators, fire pumps, plumbing, carpentry, doors, lighting, and furniture installation.
• Assemble and test equipment, follow safety procedures, and assist with two-person maintenance work as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment.
• Fundamental machinery knowledge, basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other computer software, and experience troubleshooting PLC logic systems.
• Ability to work onsite in Northfield, Illinois, travel up to 10%, work overtime, and respond to on-call requests.
• Ability to stand for 8–12 hours, work up to 6 days per week, climb ladders and stairs, work at heights, and lift up to 50 pounds frequently or 75 pounds occasionally.
• Ability to follow Lockout/Tagout, Arc Flash, PPE, and other equipment safety procedures.

Nice to have

• Associate degree in mechatronics, electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, HVAC, or an equivalent field.
• Apprenticeship completion or current trade certification.
• At least 3 years of building maintenance experience in a facility larger than 75,000 square feet.
