Electrical Reliability Electrical Distribution System (EDS) Testing Specialist

Location: Battleground Manufacturing Complex, La Porte, Texas, United States. Onsite work in a manufacturing facility; Monday–Thursday, 4/10 schedule from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., with availability for emergency testing or repairs at nights and on weekends.

What you will do

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems from 12.47 kV to 480 V.
• Test and maintain protective relays, switchgear circuit breakers, transformers, oil and SF6 switches, current and potential transformers, power cables, grounding systems, station batteries, and chargers.
• Test and troubleshoot 138 kV and 69 kV substations, 480 V and 5 kV motors, motor control circuits, and motor protection relays.
• Operate specialized test equipment, analyze test data, recommend corrective actions, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Plan and execute high-voltage switching and isolation, support electrical safety activities, and assist with scopes of work, job safety analyses, and capital projects.
• Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and contractors, including permit, LOTO, QA/QC, and contractor oversight activities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Electrical or Electronics Technology, or equivalent high-voltage industry experience.
• At least 2 years of recent experience testing and performing preventive maintenance on high-voltage substations and electrical distribution systems.
• Formal training in the latest NEC edition and NFPA 70E; ability to work as a qualified electrical worker.
• Knowledge of one-line diagrams, control schematics, P&IDs, instrumentation loop drawings, logic controller terminology, and applicable industry standards.
• Ability to work overtime and in outdoor, hot, humid, loud, dusty, safety-sensitive environments, including climbing structures up to 150 feet and wearing a respirator when required.
