Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE3) – Customer Data Platform (Fintech)

Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada; hybrid work with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday each week

Starting base salary: CAD 152,000–190,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend services and APIs for the Customer Data Platform.
• Break complex features into independently deliverable components and drive projects from technical design through production readiness.
• Guide application architecture, refactoring, maintainability, scalability, reliability, and performance improvements.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt and operational risks across high-availability production systems.
• Conduct code and design reviews, mentor software engineers, and lead a team through complex projects.
• Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, technical risks, and delivery plans.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise in at least one backend language, such as Java, Go, or Python.
• Experience using AI throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, performant distributed systems and operating production systems in AWS or another cloud environment.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases and data modeling trade-offs at scale.
• Experience leading team-level technical design, mentoring junior engineers, and communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• Experience with DynamoDB or other large-scale NoSQL data stores.
• Experience designing multi-tenant platform services or shared infrastructure for diverse customer workloads.
• Experience leading initiatives involving multiple services or teams.
• Strong understanding of observability, operational excellence, and performance optimization.
