Senior Software Developer, Data Delivery (Cloud APIs)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; the role may require in-person onboarding and/or in-person identity verification.

Salary: CAD 107,000–157,300 annual base salary; additional compensation may include annual cash bonuses, stock grants, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate scalable backend services and cloud APIs.
• Build and own an Analytics Data API that provides consistent access to analytics data across products.
• Define API contracts, service boundaries, data-access patterns, and distributed-system integrations.
• Improve application, API, database, and infrastructure performance, reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
• Manage services across deployment, observability, incident response, and operational improvement.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, data, frontend, and platform stakeholders while mentoring engineers through design guidance, pairing, and code reviews.

Requirements

• Based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
• 3+ years of professional software development experience building backend services, distributed systems, or cloud platforms.
• Strong programming skills in a modern backend language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Java, Kotlin, Rust, Python, or C#.
• Experience designing and operating production HTTP APIs, including contracts, compatibility, authentication, authorization, error handling, and API evolution.
• Experience with relational or non-relational databases, data modeling, query patterns, and performance considerations.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, resilient service patterns, production observability, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD.

Nice to have

• TypeScript or JavaScript experience with the Node.js ecosystem.
• Experience with analytics, reporting, data-intensive applications, ETL/ELT, batch or streaming processing, orchestration, event-driven systems, or message queues.
• Experience with large datasets, analytical data stores, warehouses, lakehouse architectures, or object storage.
• Strong SQL skills, AWS, containers, infrastructure as code, data contracts, schemas, metadata, or governed data-access patterns.
