Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote-first within commuting distance of Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 CAD per year

What you will do

• Build and ship integration applications hosted inside major HRIS, enterprise service management, and other third-party platforms.
• Own integration lifecycles, including SDKs, app frameworks, tenancy and installation models, marketplace certification, versioning, and upgrades.
• Design and build APIs for external systems and developers, including documentation, SDKs, sandbox paths, pagination, webhooks, rate limiting, and backward compatibility.
• Build internal tooling and agentic projects with guardrails, verification, and reliable workflows for teams across the company.
• Support identity and authentication services using secure multi-tenant access models.
• Work across teams, evaluate unfamiliar technologies, set engineering standards, and turn business needs into technical plans.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience as a high-output individual contributor with strong autonomy and cross-team collaboration.
• Deep experience with complex distributed, service-based systems, including failure modes, data consistency, and latency across service boundaries.
• Strong experience with several of Python, Go, Node/JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Postgres, NoSQL stores, and Redis.
• Hands-on experience building third-party integrations and APIs used by external developers.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, token lifecycles, service accounts, and multi-tenant authorization models.
• Experience with end-to-end and integration testing, including Playwright, Cypress, or a similar framework, plus reliable coding-agent workflows and CI/CD practices.

Nice to have

• Product management instincts, including scoping, prioritization, and requirements writing.
• Experience publishing apps to enterprise marketplaces or app stores.
• Auth0 or comparable identity provider experience.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications, agent frameworks, retrieval, or evaluation harnesses.
• Partner-facing work, developer support, or API documentation experience.

• 30-minute Talent Team interview followed by a 45-minute Hiring Manager interview.
• Take-home assignment instead of live coding.
• Three team video interviews lasting approximately 2.5 hours, followed by a 30-minute executive interview.
