Senior Scientist, Analytical Development (Biologics/Vaccine Development)

Location: Onsite in San Carlos, California; minimum four days per week onsite. Relocation assistance is available.

Salary: $165,000–$193,000 per year in the San Francisco Bay Area.

What you will do

• Lead analytical method development, optimization, qualification readiness, and validation strategy for biologics and vaccine programs.
• Design experimental roadmaps, identify critical method attributes, and align analytical approaches with program and regulatory expectations.
• Lead routine and non-routine testing using HPLC/UPLC, SEC, CE, UV-Vis, ELISA, electrophoresis, plate-based assays, and other biochemical or biophysical methods.
• Investigate complex assay, instrument, and system issues, determine root causes, and establish preventive controls.
• Author and review methods, SOPs, protocols, development reports, qualification documentation, and technical summaries.
• Provide cross-functional technical leadership, mentor junior team members, and support laboratory operations, instrumentation, inventory, and inspection readiness.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years of relevant industry experience in analytical development, quality control, or a related field.
• Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• Extensive hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, CE, SDS-PAGE, icIEF, liquid chromatography, mass spectrometry, ELISA, Western blot, PCR, and plate-based assays.
• Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills, including method performance characterization, statistical evaluation, and workflow standardization or automation.
• Ability to work in a laboratory for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, use PPE, and follow laboratory safety and hazardous-material procedures.
• Must work onsite in San Carlos at least four days per week.
