Analytical Development Research Scientist (Analytical Chemistry)

Location: Boston, MA; on-site five days per week

Salary: $102,800–$154,200 annual base salary, plus potential annual bonus and equity awards.

What you will do

• Conduct analytical testing, data review, interpretation, and presentation for small-molecule development programs.
• Characterize and assess the stability of drug substances, spray-dried dispersions, and drug products.
• Design and perform technically challenging experiments and develop innovative research methodologies.
• Support analytical method validation by designing protocols aligned with ICH and FDA guidelines.
• Represent Analytical Development on cross-functional pharmaceutical development teams and prioritize studies based on feasibility, timelines, and impact.
• Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory equipment, including liquid chromatographs, while maintaining accurate electronic laboratory records.

Requirements

• BS, MS, or PhD in life or physical sciences, preferably with a concentration in analytical chemistry.
• Relevant analytical development experience: PhD with 0–3 years, MS with 3+ years, or BS with 6+ years.
• Hands-on skills in HPLC, GC, KF, and other pharmaceutical analysis techniques.
• Understanding of drug development, including chemical and formulation development.
• Ability to work independently and in a team or matrix environment, manage multiple priorities, and maintain timelines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Good understanding of GMP.
• Hands-on GMP experience and experience developing GMP-friendly methods.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
