Senior Principal, Building Envelope (Building Envelope)

Location: New York market, United States; regional and national travel required.

Salary: $240,000–$275,000 plus annual bonus and comprehensive benefits.

What you will do

• Lead strategic planning, business development, proposals, presentations, contract negotiations, and growth initiatives for the Building Envelope practice.
• Manage executive-level relationships with clients, architects, developers, owners, and industry partners.
• Serve as the senior technical authority on façade, roofing, waterproofing, fenestration, cladding, rehabilitation, and building enclosure projects.
• Lead forensic investigations, condition assessments, design and peer reviews, commissioning, quality assurance, and remediation strategies.
• Review technical reports, specifications, investigative findings, and project deliverables while supporting litigation, insurance claims, and dispute resolution.
• Mentor technical staff, support recruiting and workforce planning, and establish technical standards and quality-control procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, building science, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 15 years of progressive experience in building envelope consulting, design, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or equivalent professional licensure required.
• Expertise in building enclosure systems, forensic investigations, rehabilitation, commissioning, construction consulting, and applicable building codes and industry standards.
• Experience leading complex consulting projects, managing executive-level client relationships, developing business, and managing practice financial performance.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to travel regionally and nationally.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in building science, architectural engineering, or a related discipline.
• RRC, RRO, RBEC, or LEED AP certification.
• 20+ years of industry experience and leadership within a consulting practice.
• Expert witness experience, historic preservation or adaptive reuse experience, and active participation in professional organizations.
• Industry recognition through publications, conference presentations, or technical leadership.
