Forensic Structural Engineer III

Location: Remote home office in Tampa, Orlando, or the surrounding Florida area; fieldwork and local, regional, and national travel are required.

Salary: $125,000–$185,000 per year, plus additional nondiscretionary compensation based on billable productivity.

What you will do

• Conduct site inspections to determine the cause, origin, and extent of structural damage.
• Evaluate failure modes and contributing factors related to storms, natural disasters, fires, explosions, defects, accidents, and foundation movement.
• Develop technical analyses, reports, documentation, and client deliverables.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, internal experts, and other stakeholders.
• Own projects through resolution while maintaining applicable standards and customer expectations.
• Contribute to process, tool, and customer-outcome improvements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of forensic engineering experience; 5–10 years is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related field, from an ABET-accredited university.
• Professional Engineer license in Florida or eligibility by reciprocity.
• Strong technical writing, report-writing, verbal communication, and client-service skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or restrictions is required.
• Ability to perform fieldwork in confined spaces and on roofs, carry ladders, operate equipment, and travel, including occasional overnight travel.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Expert witness experience.
