Collections Specialist

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, United States; hybrid with regular in-office days and the ability to work from home 2 days per week after the introductory period.

What you will do

• Contact delinquent subprime consumer-loan borrowers by phone, email, and written correspondence to secure payments and bring accounts current.
• Assess customer financial situations and negotiate manageable repayment arrangements in line with bank policies and regulations.
• Perform skip tracing to locate borrowers and collateral and support effective recovery efforts.
• Document collection activities, customer interactions, payment commitments, and account updates accurately in the loan-servicing system.
• Coordinate with underwriting, customer service, legal teams, and third-party vendors on recovery actions, including repossession and litigation.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with the FDCPA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of experience in collections, subprime lending, or consumer finance; delinquent-loan recovery experience preferred.
• Strong negotiation, verbal and written communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally, manage vendor relationships, and work effectively in a team.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Employment is contingent on passing a background check and maintaining a clean background.
