Principal Data Architect II (Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine)

Location: Hybrid role based in Worcester, Massachusetts, with on-site presence required three days per week.

Base salary: $141,500–$268,500 per year, depending on factors including geographic location and experience.

What you will do

• Define and drive the architecture of a scalable, cloud-native data platform supporting AI/ML strategy in Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine.
• Design data models and integration patterns connecting datasets from multiple laboratory groups and establish certified datasets for scientific, operational, and machine learning use.
• Partner with wet-lab scientists and automation engineers to improve the value of data captured through laboratory workflows.
• Work with data scientists and deployment engineers to support model development and production deployment.
• Advance FAIR data practices, data stewardship, connected data, and data-as-a-product principles.
• Align data infrastructure with governance policies and broader hirify.global initiatives, communicating platform impact through user stories, metrics, and KPIs.

Requirements

• MS with 14+ years or PhD with 8+ years of experience in machine learning, computer science, applied mathematics, data science, computational biology, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of data architecture experience after graduate studies, including enterprise data platform design.
• Strong skills in data modeling, data integration, data storage, data pipelines, and AI/ML integration.
• Production programming experience with SQL, Python, or Java and cloud data infrastructure experience on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience working across wet-lab and dry-lab scientific workflows, applying data governance, and aligning stakeholders across functions.
• Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry and strong communication skills.
