Staff Cloud Architect (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States or Canada only. Applications from outside the US and Canada will not be considered.

Salary: CAD 53–74 per hour. Contract duration: 6 months.

What you will do

• Define technical strategy and lead architecture across cloud infrastructure, data platforms, and AI/ML systems.
• Architect scalable cloud-native, multi-cloud, hybrid, data, and event-driven solutions.
• Design data warehouses, data lakes, batch and streaming pipelines, model-serving platforms, MLOps systems, feature stores, and LLM applications.
• Establish infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, DevOps, security, governance, compliance, observability, and reliability standards.
• Lead cloud migrations and platform modernization while optimizing performance, scalability, cost, and reliability.
• Partner with clients and leadership, document architecture, mentor engineers, and resolve complex technical escalations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in architecture or technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms and cloud-native architecture, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with microservices, serverless systems, containers, Kubernetes, Docker, and event-driven architecture.
• Proficiency with Terraform, CloudFormation or Pulumi, CI/CD, data architecture, ETL/ELT, orchestration, and big data systems.
• Production experience designing AI/ML systems, including LLMs, MLOps, model serving, SageMaker, Vertex AI, MLflow, Hugging Face, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
• Strong software engineering, networking, cloud security, identity and access management, stakeholder communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Multi-cloud architecture experience, responsible AI or AI ethics experience, and enterprise architecture certifications such as TOGAF or AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications.
