Laboratory Technician – Specimen Processing (Toxicology)

Location: Gretna, Louisiana, United States; onsite laboratory position

What you will do

• Remove presumptive-positive specimens and prepare aliquots for confirmation testing.
• Arrange, document, store, retrieve, and destroy specimens according to laboratory procedures.
• Receive and open specimens and review chain-of-custody documentation for completeness.
• Maintain accurate specimen records and follow laboratory security and confidentiality procedures.
• Clean and maintain the work area while meeting production requirements.
• Follow company policies, SOPs, SAMHSA requirements, 49 CFR Part 40, and CAP-FUDT guidelines.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to follow detailed laboratory procedures and written SOPs.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, and perform full-body movement.
• Ability to work in refrigerated areas and freezer environments of approximately 20°F.
• Ability to work safely around potentially hazardous or toxic materials and meet minimum vision and hearing requirements.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems or other laboratory computer systems.
• Knowledge of SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, or other regulated laboratory requirements.

• Full-time contract assignment from October 2026 through April 2027.
• Temp-to-perm opportunity based on business needs and performance.
• $400 bonus after 30 days and $400 bonus after 90 days for eligible contractors, subject to attendance and performance requirements.
