Automation Engineering Manager (Manufacturing Automation)

Location: Remote anywhere in North America, with travel to hirify.global manufacturing sites across the US and Canada. Travel may reach 50% during peak periods and averages 35%.

Salary: $145,600–$171,300 per year, plus eligibility for corporate bonus programs. Pay may be adjusted for state-required thresholds in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

What you will do

• Build the automation strategy, roadmap, standards, and implementation plans for the supply chain organization.
• Walk manufacturing floors, collaborate with operators and leaders, identify automation opportunities, and collect operational and cost data for business cases.
• Lead multiple automation projects from opportunity identification and business case development through startup and delivery.
• Communicate the automation vision and project status to stakeholders, senior leadership, contractors, vendors, and machine OEMs.
• Lead OT and IT efforts, optimize standards for production availability, and support cybersecurity and IT/OT integration.
• Partner with operations, EHS, engineering, and local manufacturing teams to improve safety, quality, production, and return on investment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent directly related experience.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience preferred, including at least 4 years of deep experience in core technical competencies.
• Manufacturing automation experience, including industrial robotics; Fanuc experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD, servo motion, control I/O, power distribution up to 480V, and industrial networking protocols including Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC, and RS-485.
• Experience conceptualizing automated manufacturing solutions, replacing legacy automation hardware, conducting Gemba walks, collecting data, and building business cases.
• Demonstrated leadership of multiple projects, strong cross-functional relationship building, analytical and communication skills, resource management, and business acumen.

Nice to have

• Established relationships with automation contractors, machine OEMs, and external engineering resources.
• Familiarity with automated and manual industrial asset inventory methods.
