Junior Controls & Automation Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, United States. The role is primarily office-based, with flexibility to work remotely when needed. Regular in-office attendance is encouraged.

What you will do

• Support instrumentation and control system engineering design for maintenance, expansion, and new construction projects.
• Participate in site evaluations, data collection, construction support, commissioning, and start-up activities.
• Contribute to P&ID development and prepare instrument lists and related engineering documentation.
• Assist with equipment specifications, instrument data sheets, motor schematics, loop drawings, layouts, and instrument location drawings.
• Assist with PLC, DCS, and HMI programming and the preparation of functional descriptions.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, technicians, engineers, senior engineers, and designers.

Requirements

• Recent or soon-to-be graduate with little or no professional experience and relevant technical skills.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, chemical engineering with an interest in controls, or computer science.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; transcript submission is required with the application.
• Understanding of engineering and business fundamentals, with the ability to apply technical knowledge to practical problems.
• Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, critical-thinking, collaboration, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Employment visa sponsorship and STEM OPT participation are not provided.

Nice to have

• Previous co-op or internship experience.
• Interest in control systems, instrumentation, electrical interface systems, SCADA, telemetry, and ISA applications.
