HVAC Mechanic (HVAC/Refrigeration)

Location: Frederick, Maryland, United States; onsite at the Frederick: Ft Detrick facility.

Salary: $65,500–$96,407 per year

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, operate, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems.
• Maintain temperature and humidity control systems, auxiliary equipment, and refrigeration components.
• Perform inspections and weekly, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance.
• Complete emergency repairs, including 24-hour call-ins, weekends, and holidays when required.
• Maintain equipment logs and operate computer-based building automation systems.
• Work independently and collaboratively while supporting facilities operations and maintenance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; foreign degrees require evaluation for U.S. equivalency.
• At least two years of related experience.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Technician Certification.
• Knowledge of air-conditioning and refrigeration principles, including refrigeration cycles, heat transfer, and refrigerant tables.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, and tolerate dust, vapors, particulates, and elevated noise.
• Valid state driver's license, acceptable driving record, ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, and compliance with random drug testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with airflow and pressure-temperature calculations.
• Building Automation System background.
• Experience with chillers, air handling systems, chilled water distribution, and control systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, instructions, and work orders.
