TACOM (SIAD): HVAC Mechanic (Contingency)

Location: Herlong, California, United States; physical work environment with standing, walking, lifting, outdoor conditions, and possible shifts, overtime, or weekend support.

Salary: $59,600–$89,400 per year, depending on qualifications, experience, work location, and business considerations.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC and refrigeration systems, including air conditioners, compressors, chillers, and ventilation systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using HVAC service tools, testing equipment, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, system performance testing, and operational checks.
• Charge, recover, and handle refrigerants in compliance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain service logs, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate repairs and inspections with supervisors, facility personnel, maintenance staff, and government reviewers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is preferred.
• Typically 3–5 years of experience maintaining and repairing HVAC or refrigeration systems.
• Working knowledge of HVAC/R systems, electrical controls, and mechanical components.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints and use HVAC diagnostic tools.
• EPA Section 608 Certification or ability to obtain it.
• U.S. citizenship is required, and the ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs.
• Experience in industrial or maintenance environments.
• Familiarity with building automation or environmental control systems.
• Previous government contracting experience.
